Review

This mod is just information overload every lecture. It starts off with microbiology, talking about organic chemistry, cells, energy, and genetics. Then the second half talks about more macrobiology stuff like evolution, taxonomy, plants, animals, and ecology.

You will learn at least 50 new words every lecture, as the profs try to cram as much content in a short amount of time. A good thing is that you don't have to remember most of them, as the exams allow full access to your notes, so you just need to know where to find information.

In terms of content, I find macrobiology easier to reason with, as it works with things we are generally familiar with. More specifically, it is easier to use logic and real world understanding to understand why certain things are the way they are. Micro on the other hand is just painful. There are many diagrams that help illustrate what goes on, and I appreciate that. But there's just too many concepts spread very widely that it's hard to keep up.

Workload is actually medium, as the prof decided to have 2x in-lecture quizzes worth 5% each. Because of this fact, it means I have to come to school every Monday at 8am. If this is still the case when you take it, if you're taking the mod with a friend, you can just take turns showing up for the lecture, as all you have to do is to share the quiz questions with each other.

Besides the quizzes, there are 4x2h labs throughout the semester. They are actually quite strict on the marking, so as a CS student who dk and dc how to fill up a lab report, it made me lose marks here and there.

Exams were just 2x40 questions MCQs during lectures, which are CA1 and CA2. CA1 tests Micro, while CA2 tests Macro. Open book. The time limit is actually very tight, so don't waste time on questions u don't know. Just guess and move on.
